High School students to attend diversity leadership conference

Six High School students will participate in the Student Diversity Leadership Conference in November to develop effective cross-cultural communication skills and strategies for social justice.
Seniors Arjun Dasari, Sonali Dasari, and Amara Payne, junior Lillian Worley, and sophomores Yenni Gonzalez-Salinas and Mayowa Kassim will represent University School of Nashville at the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, in conjunction with the People of Color Conference. The annual conference hosted by the National Association of Independent Schools will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28 through Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Music City Center.
SDLC is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of student leaders in ninth through 12th grade from across the country. SDLC focuses on self-reflecting, forming allies, and building community. Led by a diverse team of trained adult and peer facilitators, participants will develop effective cross-cultural communication skills, better understand the nature and development of effective strategies for social justice, practice expression through the arts, and learn networking principles and strategies.
As part of a longstanding tradition, retired teachers and professionals from USN over the years came together to celebrate, connect, and reminisce during their annual luncheon in Durnan Auditorium.
It is common to have five or more University School of Nashville student-athletes sign college athletic commitment letters each year, and this year, USN saw eight more student-athletes commit to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. USN has several alumni participating in their chosen sport at the collegiate level from the Classes of 2021 through 2025.
