Latin team places second in state

The team of Middle and High School students placed second at the Tennessee Junior Classical League Convention, and Elliott Clark '19, Maya Giles '23, Margaret Luffman '18, and Rebecca Harwood '18 earned Best in Show.
USN finished second in the state in the AAAA (highest) Division in the Tennessee Junior Classical League Convention. Thirty-two Latin students contributed to the second-place finish at the two-day event at Austin Peay State University. 
 
In the Team Competition, USN won the Aqueduct Relay. USN’s Novice Certamen (Latin Quiz Bowl) Team placed second and its Advanced Team took fifth. USN finished third in the Tog-a-War. USN was fourth in Skits, Chariot Race, and Toga Relay.
 
In the individual competitions, Elliott Clark scored the second highest number of points of any competitor. He was also elected secretary of the TJCL. Annie French finished ninth in overall scoring. 
 
Elliott also won Best in Show (overall high score) in Classical Art and Geography.  Maya Giles and Margaret Luffman won Best in Show in Grammar ½ and Roman History, respectively. Rebecca Harwood earned Best in Show for Graphic Arts in any media.
