Students propose creative solutions to everyday problems in design and innovation project.
The fifth graders just wrapped up their "Shark Tank" project. The project is based on the popular TV show in which entrepreneurs try to get the sharks to invest in their products. Students were challenged with identifying a problem they wanted to solve, coming up with multiple solutions, and deciding on one product to solve that problem. They then drew sketches, built prototypes, and delivered pitches to sell their products. Some products included dog slobber catchers, lightweight backpacks, and new and improved pencil holders. They had a great time with the project and learned first hand about design and innovation.
Lilly Martin, Amelie Soslow, Olivia Barbieri, Rohan Ramachandran, Rhea Nachnani, Caroline Keiper, Beckett Dahir, Evan Hauser and Brendan West were in the four winning “Shark Tank” groups, and their products were recognized at Town Meeting on Wednesday, April 4.
