Middle and High School students aced the 2018 Mid-State Junior Classical League Competition.
University School of Nashville won the AAA Division (the highest division) of the 2018 Mid-State Junior Classical League Competition with 882 points. Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School earned 715 points to place second and Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet High School finished third with 409 points.

Thirty-six Latin scholars competed in Academic, Creative Arts, and Certamen (Latin Quiz Bowl) competitions over the two-day event that took place at Hume Fogg and Montgomery Bell Academy.

While it was an entire team effort, many USN students received special recognition.

Elliott Clark ’19 and Annie French ’19 won the second and fourth, respectively, 2018 Howell-Sanford Awards, which recognize students who excel across many disciplines.

In the Academic Competition, students compete based on Latin level. Courtney Rabb ’19 had the highest score not only at her level but also at any level in Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary. Wesley Smail ’22 was the overall high scorer in Grammar I. Several students also placed in multiple events and were event winners.
