Seven USN High School students headed out to Bellevue and Antioch in December to audition for Mid-State, a yearly event sponsored by Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association that provides an opportunity for the best musicians of Middle Tennessee to perform with one another in large ensembles. Five students auditioned successfully, and two received scores high enough to be selected for All-State weekend, to be held in April with students from throughout Tennessee.
We are proud of all of these students, who will venture out to Murfreesboro this weekend and next to meet other local instrumentalists and to rehearse and perform under the direction of respected visiting conductors. Of particular note for Tiger pride, Sheeline Yu has been named first chair violin (concertmaster) of the 9/10 Orchestra.
As part of a longstanding tradition, retired teachers and professionals from USN over the years came together to celebrate, connect, and reminisce during their annual luncheon in Durnan Auditorium.
It is common to have five or more University School of Nashville student-athletes sign college athletic commitment letters each year, and this year, USN saw eight more student-athletes commit to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. USN has several alumni participating in their chosen sport at the collegiate level from the Classes of 2021 through 2025.
