Seven USN High School students headed out to Bellevue and Antioch in December to audition for Mid-State, a yearly event sponsored by Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association that provides an opportunity for the best musicians of Middle Tennessee to perform with one another in large ensembles. Five students auditioned successfully, and two received scores high enough to be selected for All-State weekend, to be held in April with students from throughout Tennessee.

We are proud of all of these students, who will venture out to Murfreesboro this weekend and next to meet other local instrumentalists and to rehearse and perform under the direction of respected visiting conductors. Of particular note for Tiger pride,  Sheeline Yu has been named first chair violin (concertmaster) of the 9/10 Orchestra.

Participants include:
Silver Band: Trevor Zou, 10 — Euphonium
Gold Band: Gracie Li, 9 — Bassoon
9/10 Orchestra: Sheeline Yu, 9 — Violin (All-State) ; Francesca Kusserow, 10 — Viola
11/12 Orchestra: Amanda Ding, 11 — Cello (All-State)

Congratulate them if you see them.
