The USN debaters turned in another strong performance in Atlanta, and our senior team is still alive in the varsity bracket.
The weekend before Thanksgiving Break, the Debate Team competed at The Westminster School in Atlanta.
Akash Kurupassery and William Bradshaw finished the preliminary competition with a 5-1 record after wins over Thomas Jefferson High School of Virginia; Northview High School of Georgia; The Westminster School; Montgomery Bell Academy, and the ninth-ranked pairing in the country from the St. Mark’s School of Texas. The boys advanced to round 16 where they defeated Westminster on a 3-0 decision before facing the nation's seventh-ranked duo from Carrollton Sacred Heart of Florida. Akash was recognized as the 15th speaker in the field. Arjun and Sonali Dasari finished 3-3 in the varsity division.

The ninth grade pairings of Oscar Fox and Lauren French and Niles Clancy and Christopher Cheek opted to enter the second year division. Niles and Christopher finished with a 4-2 record, just missing the semi-final bracket as they finished as the fifth seed. Oscar and Lauren finished 3-3. Niles was the 12th speaker, and Lauren placed third in JV. Michael Gordon also finished 3-3 in the JV division as part of a hybrid pairing with a student from MBA.

In the novice division, Mayowa Kassim and Gracie Li and Wiley Barzelay and Lucas Heckers both finished with 4-2 records. Mayowa was the 11-place speaker and Wiley the seventh place speaker in the division.
