Muck. Mud. Mess. All of those in Knoxville for the MTB Team's 3rd race

Our HS MTB boys did an amazing job considering the almost apocolyptic conditions, riding smartly and finishing either on bikes that could barely stop or sometimes not even pedal due to the muck and constant rain from Hurricane Nate’s outwash. Campbell finished his first lap in 9th place, and then moved up to finish in 7th place after 4 laps, while Raleigh and Cameron both finished in the top 20 of the large Sophomore boys field.
Gavin Gordon’s Freshman category 3-lap race was going well until the middle of the last lap, when his chain got permanently wound around his bottom bracket, forcing him to run the bike in for a finish (he was not alone in a running finish that day due to all the brake and drivetrain issues).

No bike or body escaped the muck!
We look forward to our last race on October 29th on Monteagle mountain on the SAS campus.
