Tigers kept the game close, but a second-half run put the game out of reach on a snowy day at the River Campus. The visiting Priory School picked up the 10-7 victory as the Tigers were led by Ames Mullendore and Jack Kleiner scored his first high school goal with seven seconds remaining. The team will play three games over the first weekend of Spring Break.

USN hosts frisbee classic
The River Campus Classic Ultimate Frisbee Tournament was held this past weekend, March 11-12, at River Campus. Thirteen teams represented their schools which consisted of eight boys' and five girls' teams. Boys' teams represented were Blackman, Independence, McCallie, and USN (from Tennessee); Brookwood, Lakeside, and Grady (from Georgia); and Forge (from Alabama). Girls' teams represented Brookwood and Grady (from Georgia), and Blackman, Independence, and USN (from Tennessee).

The weather provided some drama with a beautiful snow Saturday morning. It gave the participants a unique experience of playing in the snow that will be a memory for years to come. As usual for Tennessee,  the snow gave way to better weather to complete play.

The winner in the boys' competition was Grady High School from Atlanta, and the girls’ winner was Brookwood High School also from Atlanta. USN girls and boys won the Spirit Award. Each team played six games over the two-day tournament. The tournament was a big success, and we are looking forward to next year's tournament.

A very special thank you to parents for their support. We couldn’t pull this off without you. Thanks also to Frisbee fans for braving the weather.

Boys' ultimate frisbee
We are in a weekly season with local high school teams in the area. The first week we won by forfeit over Brentwood, 9-7 over Station Camp, 15-3 over Martin Luther King Magnet School, and 15-2 over Central Magnet.

We have gone to two tournaments. At the Montgomery Bell Academy one-day tournament, we went 2-3 with wins against MBA and Independence B but loss to Blackman, Independence A, and Birmingham Forge.

We played at the annual Deep Freeze tournament in Chattanooga going 1-4 with a win against STEM and losses to Paideia, Lakeside, Chapel Hill, and Independence A.

We went 3-3 over the weekend, finishing in third place at the inaugural year of the River Campus Classic revamp. We opened up Saturday, March 11 with a Universe Point (sudden death) 9-8 loss to Grady High School out of Atlanta in standing snow and slush. The players were a bit drained afterward, and also dropped the next game to Forge, a club team out of Birmingham. The boys recovered to post a 10-5 win over local rivals Blackman in the last game for the day.

We opened up in the quarterfinals Sunday, March 12 against Independence, another local rival. In a back and forth, fiery matchup, the game again went to Universe Point. This time, the boys were able to grind it out, winning 8-7. In the semis, the team hung with a reinforced Grady squad until halftime before running out of steam as Grady were able to pull away. The Tigers won by default over Forge in the third place game.

We are also in the works for a showcase game between USN and Independence in April before the semi-professional ultimate frisbee team in Nashville and hope to make it to the state championship in May.
