"Urinetown, The Musical," with book and lyrics by Greg Kotis and music and lyrics by Mark Hollman, opened Wednesday, Nov. 2.
The cast of 52 students is led by Patrick Chickey '17 as Bobby Strong and Alice May '17 as Hope Cladwell, the romantic leads; Alex Bahner '17 and Alex McDonald '20 as the show’s character/narrators; Ben Maloy '18 as Caldwell B. Cladwell, chief executive officer of the Urine Good Co.; Isaiah Frank '17 and Will Growdon '20 as his henchmen; Max Komisar '18 and Claudia Bennett '20 heading the Snuff Gang of Josh Gabella '17, Henry Hicks '17, Carter Koch '19, and Hannah West '20; and Kate Deegan '17 as Bobby’s mother. Everyone else is part of the massive ensemble and supports this contemporary tale by singing and dancing to beat the band.
Our technical team includes Mia Boero '18, Rebecca Harwood '18, Tyler Schoenecker '20, Sam Strang '18, and former USN student Amelia Young working hard to make more than 160 light cues and an immense amount of sound and mic cues go off without a hitch.
Musical theater is a gigantic machine, with thousands of moving parts which must all work in complete conjunction, everyone in full collaboration. This production of "Urinetown, The Musical" is a testament to the working collaboration and to our students’ ambitions to “Follow Your Heart” and to “Look at the Sky.”
Performances continue at 5 p.m. today, Nov. 3; 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6.
