Volleyball secures top two seed
The volleyball team secured a top two seed in the district tournament with a sweep of Ezell-Harding Christian School last week.

With their eyes on this prize, the Tigers stepped into the Eagles' gym ready to play. Lindsay Hardy came out hot on the front row leaving EHCS not knowing what to do. The Tigers aggressive serves were also a huge help making it more difficult for the Eagles to have a strong offense. The first set ended 25-16 in the Tigers favor. EHCS stepped up its game during the second and third set. They were able to be more aggressive offensively and even had a couple huge blocks; however, the Tigers showed their fight and prevailed with wins for both sets (28-26, 25-19). USN ended the match with a total of 28 kills. Hardy recorded 14 of those kills. Daley Hall led the team with three aces and recorded 27 assists for the match. Jade Williams continued to be an asset to the back row, leading the team with 24 digs and a total of 24 serve receives. The Tigers left EHCS proud and looking forward to the district tournament.

They will host East Literature Magnet School tonight, Sept. 29 for Senior Night before the district tournament begins next week in Sperling Gym.

Girls' soccer finishes district in third
The girls' soccer team defeated Davidson 9-1 in their final district soccer game of the regular season.

The team scored its first goal of the game off a header by Courtney Rabb courtesy of a well-placed cross from Skylar King. Rabb shares the ball with Ella Steinhilber just over a minute later and the Tigers looked like they would roll. Davidson got loose deep in the defensive end of the field and a foul in the box granted them a penalty kick. The Davidson forward connected on the opportunity and cut the USN lead to 2-1.

The rest of the game was dominated by the Tigers midfielders who connected several passes together en route to putting up seven unanswered goals to finish the game. Rabb and Steinhilber each added one more along with Olivia Dossett, Jillian Horton, Kailey Nichols, and Emma Wuerth. Jenna Fassinger added the final tally for USN on a corner kick that sailed untouched just inside the near post.

The team will host Hillwood tonight, Sept. 30 in its final regular season game. District tournament action begins next week with USN hosting the first round.

Football drops first game of season
The Donelson Christian Academy-University School of Nashville football team traveled to Knoxville for a non-district game last Friday against Christian Academy of Knoxville.

The previously undefeated Wildcats dug a big hole early in the game, trailing 35-7, before a comeback in the second half. The ground game helped the Wildcats offense put scores on the board but the deficit was too much to overcome. DCA lost the game 47-35 and will return to Knoxville on Friday, Sept. 30 to take on district foe Knoxville Webb.
