Tigers open season with win over St. Agnes on the road
Six different Tigers score in team win over St. Agnes.
After a long bus ride to Briarcrest Christian School, the Tigers were ready to knock the dust off their cleats and take on their first opponent of the season.
USN was more athletic and skilled than St. Agnes, but struggled to take care of the ball in the first half. However, the defensive efforts of Skylar King, Tate Elliott, and our goalie, Madeline Baxter kept St. Agnes from finding the back of the net. We went into half time with a lead of 7-0.
The second half was more about focusing on the little things, picking up ground balls on the first try, passing with the correct hand, and making solid cuts. That led to some goals, but also helped challenge us to be better.
Kara-Jade Gordon led all scorers with 5 goals. Skylar King and Kate Tanner each added 2 goals and Olivia Dossett, Alex Dano, and Marin Kirshner each scored one goal to round out the scoring. Madeline Baxter had seven saves on the night.
As part of a longstanding tradition, retired teachers and professionals from USN over the years came together to celebrate, connect, and reminisce during their annual luncheon in Durnan Auditorium.
It is common to have five or more University School of Nashville student-athletes sign college athletic commitment letters each year, and this year, USN saw eight more student-athletes commit to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
