Generals back on track leading to final game

The Harding Generals returned to their home field on Wednesday, September 23 to host Christ the King in the annual Spirit Game. After suffering a tough loss the week before, the Generals came out on fire behind a spirited crowd and overwhelmed CTK, 34-0.

Harding drove the ball down the field on its opening possession and scored on a Will Wheeler touchdown run, his second of the season. Both Hedges Hayworth and Tony Stevens scored touchdowns in the first half to put the Generals up 21-0 at the break. Harding's domination of the offensive and defensive fronts made a huge difference in the game. Daniel McGuire, Will Higgins, Haynes Owen, Mason McKee and Andrew Nguyen were opening big holes for the backs to run through.

Harding's defense was strong all night. This was the third shutout of the season for the Generals as they were consistently making plays in the backfield of Christ the King. Reid Buschmann and Haynes Owen both had interceptions and Will Wheeler and Hedges Hayworth made running the ball very difficult.

In the second half, Harding scored on touchdown runs by quarterback Cole Williamsonand tailback Luke Haley to set the final at 34-0.

Harding is back at home for the season finale next week as they take on St. Henry on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4:30pm. Come out and support the team as 8th graders Cole Williamson, Hedges Hayworth, Will Wheeler, Daniel McGuire, Haynes Owen, Will Higgins, Andrew Nguyen, and Tony Stevens, take the field one final time as Generals!
