New Middle School Faculty and Staff

by Jeff Greenfield, MS Head

We are pleased to welcome our new teachers and office assistant in middle school.
Jared LaCroix is our new 8th grade social studies teacher. Jared graduated from Vanderbilt Divinity School in May with a Masters in Theology Studies. Prior to that he earned two degrees from the University of Georgia and taught middle and high school history at an independent school in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he also coached his middle school basketball team to its first ever conference championship. Jared brings with him a fresh and very thoughtful approach to the study of government and history. His students will benefit from Jared's knowledge, approachability, and enthusiasm. Jared will also work with our boys MS basketball program.

Richard Rosenthal takes over as our Latin teacher.  The father of a recent USN graduate and a contributing coach to our swim program the past two years, Richard knows USN well and is eager to return to the classroom.  In a former life he taught Latin at the renowned Maret School in Washington, D.C.  Richard received a bachelor's degree in Classics from Haverford College and a law degree from the University of Michigan.

Our new middle and high school vocal music director is DaJuana Hammonds.  Youthful though she is, DaJuana has accumulated a range of rich professional experiences.  She has taught at various Metro schools--most recently at Julia Green--and directed a number of musical productions at those schools and in her own company, Acting Up.  Additionally, she has sung on stage with several big time acts and is eager to share her love and knowledge of music and performance with USN students.  A native Nashvillian, DaJuana earned her bachelor's degree from Fisk University and her master's from David Lipscomb University.

Kyle Barboza joins our performing arts faculty to work with middle and high school students as assistant band director alongside Joe Getsi.  Kyle, a familiar face to many USN After-Schoolers, is a professional musician himself, with a talent for the stand-up bass.  Kyle's fondness and talent for music and children will help our students gain the most from their instrumental music time.  Kyle earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the University of Rhode Island.

Caroline Campbell is the friendly face that will greet you in the middle school office.  She has worked in comparable administrative roles in other settings and has particular affection for schools like USN from her own days as a student at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga.  Caroline is resourceful, organized, and reliable, even if she doesn't know all the answers yet!  Caroline earned her bachelor's degree in hospitality management and business administration from the University of Mississippi.
