HS MTB Team powers through 2nd race

The new HS MTB team raced well at the TN Cycling League's second race on Monteagle Mountain, securing 3 top-10 finishes, including a podium position, while achieving 3rd place in the overall team points standings.
While Nashville swam its way through an all-day storm on Sunday, October 6th, the MTB team found almost perfect weather on top of Monteagle mountain, racing through a beautiful course on the St. Andrews-Sewanee campus.

Josh Gabella, Kevin Chen, Addison Prichard and Sam Markland all raced strongly, improving their performance from the first race in a 2-lap contest. Sam placed in the top 10 of the Sophomore Boys Division, and even though Addison Prichard suffered a mechanical on his first lap, all 4 riders are nearly in the top 10 for individual points in the 4-race series. Junior Skye Cameron turned the team's fastest lap of the day and finished 7th in a tough 3-lap JV race.

Senior Natascha Heckers and freshman Alice May raced for the girls. Alice suffered a hard crash in her second lap of the freshman girls' race and was unable to continue, while Natascha finished 3rd in the JV race and again stood on the Podium in the awards ceremony.

The team also is now 3rd place for overall team points after two races. The next race is at the Herb Parsons Lake trails just east of Memphis on Sunday, October 27th.
