Hockey skates to a tie with Station Camp

Sterling Schwartz and Charlie Rubinowicz paced the team's offense
FRA/USN took its undefeated record to the ice last night against a strong skating team from Station Camp.  It was a seesaw contest as Station Camp came back late in the 3rd period to tie FRA/USN 3-3.  Station Camp opened the scoring in the first period (the first time this season that FRA/USN has been behind). FRA’s Andrew Looney got the equalizer and 30 seconds later, USN’s Sterling Schwartz put them in the lead 2-1.  From there, the goaltending of Bo Korpman and Jon Rydburg came up with big saves before Station Camp tied things early in the 3rd.   A few minutes later, Schwartz connected again with assists from Captain Chandler Premo and assistant captain Charlie Rubinowicz.  It looked like the defending state champions would hold on to win, but Station Camp stormed back to score and had a late power play for a chance to win. That opportunity was stuffed by the strong penalty kill and the game finished in a tie.
FRA/USN remains in first place in the GNASH Blue Division and extended their unbeaten streak to open the season to 5 games, and 9 games going back to last season – a school record.  They’ll take the ice again on Monday, Nov 14th against Blackman at 8:25pm.
