HVAC Championship Meet

USN had a great showing at this year’s HVAC Championship meet.  Our athletes put their best foot forward, set records, and ended the season with numerous personal best marks and times.
 
BOYS-The boys team came in fourth place at the HVAC meet with awesome team and individual efforts.  Simpson Tanner was the HVAC Champion in the open 400 meter dash, setting a school record of 54.71.  Dylan Gross also broke his own school record in the open 1600 meter run with a time of 4:57, coming in third place (3rd 800 meter dash-2:16).  Arthur Churchwell competed for third place finishes in the 100 meter dash (11.99), 200 meter dash (24.45-school record), and Long Jump (18’4.75”-school record).  Robert Greene also competed in the finals, setting a personal record of 18.85, a 5th place finish.

GIRLS-
The girls came in fifth place overall in a very competitive field of athletes.  Starting with field events, Hannah Dibble earned a runner-up position (7’0”), while Hannah Roth competed for third place (7’0”) in the Pole Vault.  The girls 4x200 meter relay (Holmes, Thompson, Weimerskirch, McHugh) 1:50.44, battled for a first place finish that set the school record and surpassed the HVAC record by more than 2 seconds.  Kelly McHugh scored in six events (5th HJ-4’8”, 3rd LJ-15’5.25”, 6th 100 meter dash-13.52, 2nd 100 meter HH-17.02-School Record, 5th200 meter dash-27.94, and 1st 4x200m relay.  Lydia Warren set a huge 12 second Personal Record in the open 1600 meter dash (5:56)-4th place, while Hannah Bollen placed 7th in the 800 meter run-2:41.  The 4x100 meter relay (Thompson, Holmes, Weimerskirch, Young) also set a school record with a time of 53.95, 4th place.

*Athletes to note include: Ashtan Towles (6th LJ-14’6”), Annie Weimerskirch (4th 100m HH-17.31, 4x100/4x200meter relays), Elena Escalas (4th DT-72’3”), JC Swope (8th 100m-12.25/7th200m-25.34), and Kellon Patey (7th 1600m run-5:10, and 7th 800m run-2:26) gave the team great efforts and scored points in their perspective events.
