HS Girls' Lacrosse trumps Collierville to go 2-0 in Memphis

by Coach Lilly Sagar

It came down to the final minutes of the game, but the Tigers pulled out the win.
It was a close game for the entire fifty minutes, as we were never more than 1 goal ahead or behind.  Collierville had some strong players that we had difficulty defending, but we played as a team to limit their shots on goal.  Taking care of the ball was our emphasis in the pre-game meeting, but we had trouble getting our passes on target.  Fortunately, we were able to take advantage of the offensive opportunities we earned and put the ball in the net.

With just over three minutes to go in the game, the score was tied, 8-8.  We had the ball on our offensive end and Anna Doctor rolled the crease on the left side and buried a shot from such a low angle.  That put us up one goal, and we were able to hold that lead for the remainder of the game.  Elizabeth Dossett led the team in scoring on the day with four goals.

Final score was 9-8.  It felt really great to leave Memphis with two more in the win column!

Statistics were as follows:
Annie Schatz: 1 goal, 11 ground balls, 2 draw controls, 1 assist
