Over 165,000 manuscripts were submitted to the Region-at-Large for The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2010; 1,111 of those received Gold Key awards, and six of those went to USN high school students.
Seniors Lauren Coleman and Rachael Durnin were both recognized with Gold Key awards for their General Writing Portfolios; junior Eliot Linton received a Gold Key for his Short Short Story, "Colic." Three students-- junior Susie Ward and sophomores Rebecca Ewing and Marlo Kalb-- were recognized with Gold Key awards for their sets of poems. All of the recognized work will go onto national judging this month.
