JV boys lacrosse takes another loss at Hillsboro

The JV boys lacrosse team started the game strong, with a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.  However, the Burros would not go away and came back within 2 goals at halftime, 5-3.  Aaron Weitzman scored three goals on the evening for the Tigers, all in the first half.  Out of the break, Hillsboro tied the game up early in the 3rd quarter, before USN would score again to take a modest 6-5 lead.  The Burros came back to score three more goals for an 7-6 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. There were a couple penalties for both teams early in the 4th quarter that kept both teams off the scoreboard, including an injury timeout when freshman defenseman Daniel Meyerowitz went down with a knee injury.  The Tigers took advantage of the penalty to tie the game.  Hillsboro would score the next two goals before Josh Strupp could run through their defense to put the Tigers back down by one.  USN won the face-off with .50 seconds remaining but missed an opportunity to tie the game when a pass to the crease dropped to the ground.  Hillsboro ran the ball down to their offensive end and ran out the majority of the clock before the Tigers could mandafe a last second shot from midfield that was wide of the goal.  The JV team will be off until April 28th when they will take on Hendersonville HS.
