As we prepare for the early fall 2025 season and the rest of the 2025-2026 athletic seasons, the Athletics Department would like to inform student-athletes and their families of an important update that will directly affect your eligibility to participate in USN Athletics.
All Middle and High School student-athletes are required to submit a sports physical, also called a Preparticipation Physical Evaluation. Sports physicals must be submitted by the first day of school or before the first day of practice for your sport. No student-athlete may join practice or compete in an athletic contest without a sports physical cleared by our Athletic Training staff.
This updated USN policy is also a requirement for our Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association and Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference Conferences and the state of Tennessee. The PPE promotes the health and well-being of student athletes prior to the start of training and competition. It also helps keep student athlete safety at the forefront of our programs prior to the start of each year as a best practice for USN.
In the newest PPE guidebook, the groups below say that your doctor's office or the place where you get your medical care is the best option. You can also obtain and submit the completed sports physical through Magnus Health.

It's also endorsed by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Thank you for your support in USN prioritizing our student-athletes’ health and safety.
