USN hosts Battle of the Books
Univesrity School of Nashville hosted teams from area middle schools to compete in a trivia competition over the Volunteer State Book Award book selections. Congratulations to winners Emma Tillman ‘31, Maddie McKnight ‘31, Emma Harris ‘31, Charlotte Burgener ‘31, and Eva Tanquilut ‘31.

On Saturday, May 3, middle school teams from Univesrity School of Nashville, Harpeth Hall, and Franklin Road Academy met at USN to battle knowledge of the 20 Volunteer State Book Award nominees at the Battle of the Books. Students formed teams, read as many of the VSBA books as they could, and then studied trivia related to the books to compete against each other.
In years past, competition was mostly held through Zoom, but USN hosted teams to an in-person showdown this year. Each team performed well, but the final rounds saw four teams from USN compete. The winning team beat out the competition by one point. The members of the winning team were Emma Tillman ‘31, Maddie McKnight ‘31, Emma Harris ‘31, Charlotte Burgener ‘31, and Eva Tanquilut ‘31.
