This National Volunteer Week, we're thrilled to celebrate the volunteers who make USN such a special place. Get to know Amy Tidwell, a USN parent who will be leading USNA next year, alongside her co-president, Kim Kikkawa.

Q: In what grades are your children?
A: I have a 5th grader, Emmy, and a 7th grader, Max.

Q: How long have you been involved with USNA?
A: I started volunteering as a room parent when Max was in 1st grade.

Q: What has been your all-time favorite volunteering experience for a USNA event?
A: I love volunteering the week of Artclectic. I really enjoy meeting the artists, watching Sperling Gym transform, and working with so many other parents.

Q: What are you most excited about in the 2025-2026 school year?
A: I’m most excited for those first few weeks of school. There’s always so much going on, and it’s so fun to catch up with everyone we missed over the summer.

Q: What aspect of USN do you appreciate the most?
A: I most appreciate the K-12 experience. I can really see how much each grade and division prepares kids for what comes next.

Q: Do you have any advice for fellow parent volunteers?
A: Jump in wherever and whenever you can. No amount of volunteering is too small and is greatly appreciated.
