The Chief Financial Officer steers the financial strategy of USN and has a critical administrative role in ensuring long-lasting sustainability and growth. Alex Heiberger will join USN from The Madeira School, an all-girls boarding school in Virginia.

Steering the financial strategy of University School of Nashville is a critical administrative role to ensure long-lasting sustainability and growth. Alex Heiberger will join USN as Chief Financial Officer on August 1, 2024, to help implement the strategic plan and ensure the financial sustainability of a school with a $33 million annual operating budget, close to zero debt, and a $37 million endowment. While this role requires all facets of financial management including financial operations, analysis and reporting, compliance and risk management, and investment strategy, the CFO at USN also manages Human Resources and the Health Room.
Heiberger has a wealth of fiscal leadership experience in independent school administration, higher education, health care management, medical center administration, and research operations. He has served as Chief Financial & Operations Officer of The Madeira School since 2014, is a former board member of the National Business Officers Association, Hoya Federal Credit Union and a member of the Finance Committee for the Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington. He also has spoken at national conferences on topics relating to the independent school business model, net tuition revenue, and strategic admissions development. He previously served as Associate Dean of Administration at the School of Nursing and Health Studies at Georgetown University. He spent his early career in health care management roles including at a community hospital and large academic medical center settings.
Heiberger holds a Master of Health Services Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Rhetoric from State University of New York at Albany.
Forty-six Middle School scholars took on the American Classical League’s National Mythology Exam, passing the exam with flying colors. Congratulations to Lucas Lupu ’31 and James Keiper ’31, who turned in perfect papers during the exam. Several students also earned medals and high honors.
USN’s A and B High School Quiz Bowl teams set a new benchmark at the Quiz Bowl National Championship. The teams finished third and fifth, respectively, resulting in the best performance in school history.
C-SPAN has recognized Eva Choe '26 for her StudentCam documentary for the fourth year. She will receive a cash award for her documentary about President George Washington's Farewell Address, which can be viewed here.
