USN Tigers Fall At MBA 1-0

The USN Tigers Boys Soccer Team lost at local rival MBA 1-0. MBA, reigning Division II-AA State Champions, scored early, but against the run of play. The Tigers pressed from the start and almost scored off of an Atticus Pflaum cross in the first minute. Forwards Pflaum and Braylin Davis threatened the MBA goal for the first 20 minutes or so, as the USN back line and midfield kept MBA in their own half. MBA were able to cause USN some trouble the latter part of the first half with their overlapping outside backs.

The Tigers made some adjustments at halftime to sort out matchups against a strong MBA team and isolate some players to good effect in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper Vincent Kehler made a couple of quality saves to keep MBA out. In the last minutes of the game The Tigers were able to counter attack after good group defending to create two great scoring opportunities with Braylin Davis again causing the MBA goal trouble. Unfortunately, USN were unable to tuck away the chances, with one being denied by a last ditch sliding tackle from an MBA defender.

The USN Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, April 2 vs. District opponent Franklin Road Academy at home.
