Warm winter nights with USN Evening Classes

USN Evening Classes is a collection of casual, one-night classes for adults offered January through March in restaurants, businesses, and private residences. Hone your hobby, learn a new skill, or get a better understanding of current events in sessions taught by professors, award-winning chefs, entrepreneurs, New York Times best-selling authors, and Pulitzer and Grammy Award winners. Course catalog and registration available at eveningclasses.org.

The Evening Classes Catalog is available to preview, and what a wonderful selection of delightful treats, nourishing teachings, and sweet surprises on this year's menu! Registration will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 at eveningclasses.org.

For starters, you may want to try:
  • Dumpling making with Mama Yang and Daughter Grace, where you will learn the secrets of making the perfect Taiwanese dumpling.
  • Take a tasty trip to Bourgogne to learn all about the history, geology, culture, and — above all — flavor of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines with sommelier Billie Joyce.
  • Try a sampling of delicious nonalcoholic mocktails with mixologist Stephanie Styll from Killjoy Club
You won’t want to miss sinking your teeth into some meaty topics like:
  • What you (and your children) need to know about Generative AI and Chat GPT with Vanderbilt University Professor of Computer Science Jules White, Ph.D.
  • An analysis of current wars through the lens of international criminal law with Belmont University Professor of Law and Director of Criminal Justice Studies Lucian Dervan.
  • Take a deep dive into the mystery (and disaster) of the giant sunken ship off the coast of St. Simon’s Island with a film and lecture.
For a beautiful, sweet treat you can:
  • Bake delicate French macarons with chef and critically acclaimed baker David Andrews.
  • Spruce up your party planning with festive balloon garlands taught by Grace Ann Lukach ’03.
  • Create a blooming spring bulb floral centerpiece that will bring gorgeous flowers to your table throughout the winter months with Carter Dawson from Botanica.

Feeling a little guilty after the feast, or want to get those good habits and tools in place for your healthy lifestyle? Why don’t you try our:
  • Wellness By Design class, taught by Forbes Health columnist, Mayo Clinic, and National Board-certified health coach Sarah Hays Coomer, and learn skills to make healthy choices and tame your bad habits.
  • Perfect your pickleball and tennis skills with a 90-minute workshop by Luci Crow teaching the MELT technique to strengthen your game and reduce injuries.
  • Burn off some calories in an introduction to hot yoga with Shelby Baxter at Shakti Yoga.
This year’s Evening Classes menu is chock full of different flavors for all kinds of tastes; take a look at our catalog here to find the classes that will be perfect for you!
