MS welcomes 2 exchange students

USN has partnered with Faces and Our Cultures for several years and again is hosting middle school students from Guatemala.
By Kelicia Cox, Assistant Head of Middle School

Middle School is delighted to announce we welcomed Guatemalan students to our Edgehill Campus on Tuesday, October 17 as part of the Faces and Our Cultures program. We expect this to be a mutually enriching and fun experience for everyone. USN has participated as a hosting school for the Faces and Our Cultures program since 2007.

Faces and Our Cultures is a cultural exchange program based in Guatemala. It offers an enriching experience within an educational environment that promotes friendships and global understanding. Every year, a group of young Guatemala Cultural Ambassadors visit the United States for seven weeks. To be considered as young cultural ambassadors of their country, these participants must apply and undergo a rigorous selection process by General Coordinator and Founder Sandy Cardona and her team. As a result, they will have experienced extensive preparation throughout the year and will present cultural projects to share with our community.

We look forward to the students taking part in the many offerings of USN and Nashville, including attending classes and cultural and sporting events, being a resource to partner with in our K-12 programming, living with volunteer host families, enjoying the traditions, and sharing about their Guatemalan culture. USN students will also gain from the experience, including opportunities for cross-cultural learning, increased diversity and inclusion, and potential long-term partnerships with Guatemalan schools and organizations.
