Celebrations are abundant this time of year and you needn’t look any further than our Tibbott Art Gallery to find the latest one, or better to say the latest two. On Tuesday, May 9, the Tibbott Art Gallery opened Student Work Spring 2023, including works from fifth through 12th grade. Additionally, the visual arts faculty voted to feature the works of two seniors prominently on the main wall of the gallery, Jaimie List '23 and Jolie Booth '23. Their work anchors the show, supporting the amazing work from all of our exhibiting artists.

Highlighting the event was the presentation of The Bridget Chérie Harper Artist Scholarship Fund. Betty and her family established this scholarship in memory of her daughter Bridget Harper, a sculptor and painter, who died of cancer in 2015. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating art student to aid in furthering their artistic dreams. Artist Betty Harper, Loretta Harper and alumnus James Harper ’99, attended the opening to present the award, and this year the family has selected Jaimie as its recipient.

All of the visual arts faculty are extremely proud of Jamie and her work, and we are thankful that the Harper family continues to support the efforts of our talented young artists at USN.
