Thanks to 80 volunteers, Tiger Give Back Challenge sees record results

When a streak of Tigers gives with pride, great things happen. A huge thank you to everyone who made this day possible. Donors unlocked a special celebratory day for students schoolwide with Friday, March 24 being Dress Like A Superhero Day.
By Claudia Huskey, Annual Fund Director

“From the first moments of the day (thank you, Pep Band!) everyone on campus could feel the excitement of the Tiger Give Back Challenge. We’ve heard about conversations with students from seniors to kindergarteners about the critical role giving plays in the USN experience. Every Tiger in every corner of our school will feel the impact of our successful giving day.”
— Jessie Morris Adams and Brian Adams, Annual Fund Chairs and Lower School Parents

On Wednesday, March 1, nearly 800 members of the USN community made a donation during the Tiger Give Back Challenge (TGBC), raising over $300,000 for the Annual Fund. There were several keys to success including a very generous $100,000 challenge gift that was unlocked when Will McLemore ’94 (ninth grade parent) made the 600th gift. Even more impactful were the 80 volunteers on campus or at home who contacted thousands of potential donors through phone calls and text messages.

The epicenter of the TGBC was the Gordon Multipurpose Room, where music was playing, refreshments were abundant, and the overall atmosphere was energizing. Faculty volunteers reconnected with young alumni navigating college, calling out names enthusiastically when their former advisees texted back.

"I walked into helping with outreach during the Tiger Give Back Challenge with a fair amount of nervous skepticism. Asking for money, even for the school I love, felt a bit awkward for me. To my surprise, it was the exact opposite and I had a blast reconnecting with former students. Every time I saw another name, it brought back great memories and I literally cheered out loud! It was so exciting to reach out to these students, see how they were doing, and encourage them to give back to the school. All of their texts back and the gifts that followed made the day really special. I am looking forward to next year's campaign and reconnecting with more of our alumni!"
— Tamara Berthel, 9th and 10th Grade Dean and HS Science Teacher

Retired College Counseling team members Janet Schneider and Cristin Viebranz had a blast being back on campus and reconnecting with young alumni. They were later joined by the ever-joyful retired Assistant to the Director Susan Pearlman. What a treat to have such beloved members of the USN community return to 2000 Edgehill.
