February may be the shortest month of the year, but there is no shortage of Evening Classes to make the most of these remaining winter days.

It’s always the right time of year to focus on the health and harmony of your mind, body, and spirit. We have three classes that will contribute to your well being.

The Art & Ritual of Tea taps into the magic of stillness in a world that seems to speed up by the minute and teaches you how to integrate a tea ritual into your life.

Sign up for Spring Salad Gardening to learn how to plant, tend, and harvest lettuce, arugula, spinach, cilantro, parsley, radishes, and more. You will take home a small salad planter and will nurture it as it grows through the spring, providing a salad harvest in just a few weeks.

And, while you're focused on your health, join Nutrition for Families where you will explore current recommendations and research around raising a healthy and competent eater. Join registered dietitians to learn about what to feed your school-aged kids in a low stress way.

Outside of wellness courses, our author events are the perfect way to learn more about a subject, and there's no need to read the book beforehand:

Praised as "both scholar and jazz-like innovator," renowned poet Ed Roberson reads from his most recent book, "Asked What Has Changed." In 2020, Roberson was awarded the Jackson Poetry Prize, and the judges said, "Roberson’s poems work a way into your heart and consciousness, because he is a visionary of luminous detail, of histories, of what he has felt and lived and observed." His various influences and themes include the environment, spirituality, visual art, music, and his extensive travels. This is a free event and attendees will receive a hand-made, letterpress broadside featuring a new poem by the author. Supplies are limited.

Hot Spot: A Doctor's Diary from the Pandemic is a combined book discussion and signing with Alex Jahangir, orthopedic surgeon and USN parent, who was the chair of the Metro Nashville Coronavirus Task Force during the pandemic. John Seigenthaler, acclaimed former NBC news anchor and journalist, will moderate.

Music resounds in all of us and around us each and every day. If you can never get enough of music, or the music industry, these classes are for you:

Express yourself with your instrument in Jamming Made Easy with Victor Wooten. Join other musicians in conversation expressed through improvisation to increase your creativity and performance.

Chances are you consume video content everyday, multiple times a day. Everyone is competing in the economy of our attention. Sure we’ve all heard of writers and directors, but what about motion designers? Behind The Glam will share with you how music videos are made, from conception to execution to final product.

The year 2023 is the 30th anniversary of USN's Evening Classes program. This annual fundraiser relies on the generous donation of instructors' time, talent, and expertise to raise funds for USN's K-12 need-based scholarship endowment. We hope you enjoy perusing the catalog, with over 150 one-night, in-person classes, adults can find something that piques their interests in USN Evening Classes annual slate of enrichment courses. To register, simply click a course title above or view the full catalog here.
