On Friday, September 30, many members of the University School of Nashville community came together in celebration of the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

High School student groups Aliados and Lucha and parent & family affinity group HOLA teamed up and invited the school to learn more about the melting pot that is Hispanic culture in a fun-filled evening of authentic food, music, and performances showcasing a variety of cultures from Hispanic countries. Durnan Auditorium buzzed as captivating dancers took the stage and younger students enjoyed family-friendly games and activities including face painting and piñata making.

The event was held during Hispanic Heritage Month which runs September 15 through October 15 and served as a fundraiser for Nashville International Center for Empowerment too. In addition to uniting USN families through an evening of learning from one another, the celebration raised $730.04 for NICE whose mission is to "ensure refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come," according to its website.

"I'm still in disbelief at how well everything turned out. Thank you to everyone who supported us," Aliados Student Leader Ximena Segoviano '23 shared.
