Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25 and Alexander Clinton '24 finished first in the High School debate team's first tournament of the school year, leading the charge for an exceptional team performance.

The High School debate team opened the 2022-2023 season with a strong start at the Lexington High School (Massachusetts) Virtual Round Robin Tournament on Saturday, September 17.
Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25 and Alexander Clinton '24 finished in first place and won seven out of eight ballots on the weekend. They notched wins over the second place team from Boston Latin School and over both teams from Berkeley Preparatory School (Tampa); and they split ballots with the host team from Lexington.
Zinnia Nichols Loller '25 and Claire Gilliam '24 finished in third place on the weekend with a 6-2 record. In the policy division, Ophelia, Alexander, Zinnia, and Claire took first, second, third, and fifth respectively.
Next up, the team will head to Sequoyah High School in Canton, Georgia.
As part of a longstanding tradition, retired teachers and professionals from USN over the years came together to celebrate, connect, and reminisce during their annual luncheon in Durnan Auditorium.
It is common to have five or more University School of Nashville student-athletes sign college athletic commitment letters each year, and this year, USN saw eight more student-athletes commit to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
