Welcome new admin, staff

Get to know some of the people new to USN offices and read about new faculty in each of the division publications.
We look forward to welcoming the following new administrators and staff to USN this school year:
 
Lucy Liautaud is the Administrative Assistant in the Development Office. She spent most of her life in Champaign, Illinois, before attending boarding school at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She worked in football recruiting operations at University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Sport & Recreation Management. Most recently, she worked for the Nashville Predators Hockey Club as a Receptionist and Human Resources Assistant. In her spare time, Lucy likes to run with her dog, Ernie, cook new recipes, rock out at indie concerts, cheer on the Preds and Titans, and watch new thrillers on every streaming platform imaginable. 

Marisa Bell joins the Communications Office as Creative Services Specialist to handle the school’s graphic design needs and daily campus life photography and manage the school’s visual identity. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in digital advertising from Western Kentucky University. Marisa joins us from Bowling Green, Kentucky and has more than six years of experience as a graphic designer and production artist, working in higher education, for retailers, and for several luxury brands. She also has experience as an artist with pottery and watercolors. Marisa plays the bass guitar and is always down for Thai food.

Leigh Ivey Hicks ’05 returned to USN as Alumni Director in March 2022. After leaving USN, Hicks studied corporate communications, public affairs, and anthropology at Southern Methodist University and worked for the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C. She also gained experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, and alumni relations at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and The Ensworth School. Hicks is married to 13 Year Club member Jack Hicks ’05, and they are parents of Frances, a black Lab.

Inita Wells is the Human Resources Director. She brings a decade of experience in all aspects of human resources including, but not limited to recruiting, benefits, and employee relations. She previously worked with Oak Plains Academy, Tennessee Maternal Fetal Medicine, Growthwright, American Addiction Centers, and Aurora Health Care. Wells holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also loves the snow, has 20 nieces and nephews, and is a huge Marvel fan. 

Shelley Hinson is the new Director of Technology. She was born and raised in Texas but has spent the last five years in California as a Technology Director. She previously worked in the tech industry in Bahrain for three years. For the past 30 years, she has been teaching computer science and technology classes to students inPreK to graduate school. Hinson has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from the University of Houston and completed all but dissertation on her Ph.D. in Management Information Systems there as well. In her spare time, Shelley likes to play tennis, spend time with her Pomeranian, Hershey, and travel the world.

Congratulations to the following staff, who have been promoted or taken on new roles at USN:

Natalie Sewell has transitioned to the Director’s Office to serve as the Asssitant to the Director and manage the 19th Avenue and Edgehill Lobby receptionists. She joined USN in 2014 and previously worked in the Alumni & Development Office.

Phylicia Moye is supporting the Business Office team as Controller. She will spend the 2022-2023 school year learning the ins-and-outs of the role from her predecessor, Norma Miller, who will pass down institutional knowledge after an esteemed 45-year career in the USN Business Office. Phylicia interned in the Business Office while pursuing her Master of Accountancy from Middle Tennessee State University in 2013. She was an auditor at a Big 4 public accounting firm and worked in commercial real estate finance before returning to USN as Assistant Controller in 2021. Phylicia is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Tennessee.

Rebecca Stokes has taken on the newly created role of Director of Auxiliary Programs to bring After School and Summer Camps together under her direction.  She has been a part of USN since 2001, starting work as a second grade Teaching Assistant. After joining the After School team the following year, she moved from part-time After School staff to Middle School After School Program Coordinator and has served as Director of After School & MSAS for the last five years. A graduate of the Independent School Leadership Master’s program at Vanderbilt University who also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Middle Tennessee State University, she is thrilled to be taking on a new challenge in leadership at USN.

Angie Moore assumes the role of Transportation Manager to oversee the school’s fleet of buses that run students to field trips, overnight retreats, and academic and athletic events throughout the Southeast. She has driven buses and served as Transportation Supervisor for USN for several years and now replaces longtime driver Mike Turange who retired this summer.
