The entry point to cocurricular life in the High School, these groups offer students a way to explore new interests, build and strengthen bonds with classmates, and develop valuable leadership skills.
Hear from the Investment Club student leaders Viraj Rao '23, Bennett Dickerson '23, and Jonah Hirt '23 on USN's club most likely to help you finally understand nonfungible tokens.
Q: In a sentence or two, what is the Investment Club?
A: Investment Club is a place where members of various experience levels can learn about investments spanning stocks, cryptos, NFTs, and more. In our meetings, our members have discussions, explore investments, and play financial games to acquire more experience in investing.
Q: Why did you start the club?
A: We originally started the club to host meetings in which members could share stocks they are interested in, but we transitioned to the more educational side of investing as time passed. We realized that learning more about finances could better serve our members’ future. While many members cannot invest yet, this knowledge from the club will help them in their financial future.
Q: How many members are in the club?
A: The number of members that show up to a meeting can vary since we have many on our email list. We typically have 10-15 members show up to each meeting in addition to the three leaders.
Q: Are you accepting new members?
A: We are always looking for new members who can bring new ideas to the club. New members can also come to meetings to listen if they want to learn more information. Additionally, there is an opportunity to join the investment game that we started (which contains a prize) if a new member would like to participate in that. If any new members would like to join the club feel free to contact
Viraj,
Bennett, or
Jonah for information on the next meeting.
Q: What's your favorite memory from Investment Club?
A: Our favorite memory was our opportunity to participate in an interview [with Money Magazine]. They were doing a story on investment clubs in high schools, and we had the opportunity to share our experiences in the article published
here.
