Debaters sweep Iowa Caucus

Ninth-grade debaters Collin Chan, Ophelia Cherry-Pulay, Caroline Keiper, and Ellie Rothman were co-champions in their latest tournament.

The debaters digitally barnstormed the Iowa Caucus hosted by Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, October 30.
 
Two duos finished with perfect 6-0 records — partners Caroline Keiper '25 and Collin Chan '25 and partners Ellie Rothman '25 and Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25. As a result, the four were co-champions in the novice division. Both pairs finished two wins ahed of third place Blue Valley West High School of Overland Park, Kansas. 
 
Ophelia claimed the first place speaker award, followed by fellow Tigers Ellie, Collin, and Caroline taking second, third, and fourth respectively. Together the team secure its first clean sweep. of the first year division. 

Congrats to all four debaters, who are ready to test their skills in a second year division at their next tournament hosted by Westminster in Atlanta.
