Debaters recognized at Trevian Invitational

USN claims three of the top 10 speaker awards in a national debate competition.

High School's Ninth Grade Debate Team had another strong showing on Saturday, October 9 at the virtual Trevian Invitational hosted by New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. Ellie Rothman '25 and Ophelia Cherry-Pulay '25 finished the one-day novice event with a 3-0 record. Ophelia and Ellie won the third and fourth place speaker awards out of 131 competitors. Collin Chan '25 and Eleanor Molvig '25 finished with a 2-1 record. Collin claimed the seventh place speaker award and Eleanor finished 17th. The team is busy gearing up for the Iowa Caucus debates in late October.
