We are pleased to give you an update on the search for the next director of USN. Over the summer, we received applications from not only across the United States, but also across the globe, of highly qualified professionals seeking to join the USN community as its next director. The search committee reviewed the applications and narrowed down the list to nine impressive candidates to interview. After over eleven hours of collective interviews, the committee invited four finalists to interview in person at USN.

It is very exciting to be at the point in the process where we have the opportunity to spend time with these four outstanding finalists. Likewise, these candidates now have the chance to experience the USN community, which we believe is the secret sauce of what makes USN the unique school that it is. As we prepare for each finalist visit to campus, we continue to monitor COVID-19 case numbers locally and globally. The plans detailed below are contingent upon our ability to continue to gather in person; in the event that changes must be made to adhere to COVID-19 mitigating measures, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Here are the dates for the four finalists:
  • Sunday, September 19 – Tuesday, September 21
  • Sunday, September 26 – Tuesday, September 28
  • Sunday, October 3 – Tuesday, October 5
  • Sunday, October 10 – Tuesday, October 12
With each finalist spending over two full days on campus, we hope that you will be able to choose a time to interact with these candidates and not only learn about them, but also give them a chance to learn about why you chose to be a part of this community. Information about each candidate will be emailed a few days before the start of each finalist’s time on campus. We encourage you to hold the times below that work best for you on your calendar:
  • Faculty and Staff: Mondays at 3:45 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7:15 a.m.
  • Parents and Alumni: Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 8:15 a.m.
Because of the need for COVID-related precautions, we must cap the number of attendees in the auditorium for parent and alumni meetings at 150. Parents and alumni, please sign up here to reserve a seat in the auditorium.

Your input and reflection about each candidate is vital to the process. We are asking each person who meets a candidate to fill out a survey so that the search committee and Board know your thoughts on the finalists. Many of you have reached out to us offering your time to help with this process; we are ready to take you up on your generous offer and for you to play a role in this significant time in PDS/USN history.
