Director Search Committee announced

In an email sent on Tuesday, May 4, Board President Ivanetta Davis Samuels '86 announced the members of the committee to find USN's next director.

We are pleased to share news of the initiation of the director search process. The Board of Trustees has appointed a search committee made up of the following:
 
Tina Modi — Co-Chair, Trustee, Parent '25, '26
Brett Sweet — Co-Chair, Board Chair Emeritus, Parent of Alumni '13, '19
Gail Williams — Board Chair Emerita, Honorary Trustee, Parent of Alumnus '13
Robert Perry '03 — Alumnus, Trustee, Parent '32, '33
Bob Gordon — Trustee, Parent '21, Parent of Alumni '11, '13
Brian Tibbs — Trustee, Parent '22
Kristin Wilson — Trustee, Parent '29, '32
Susannah Scott-Barnes — Trustee, Parent '26
Juliet Douglas — Director of Admissions & Financial Aid, Parent of Alumni '12, '14
Connie Fink — Fifth Grade Social Studies Teacher, Parent '21, Parent of Alumni '20, '18
Anna Cramer — USNA Co-President, Parent '22, '24, '28
 
Additionally, we are excited to announce that after interviewing several national firms, we have chosen RG175 to help USN with the search for our next director. The firm is composed of some of the most successful former heads from around the country and has developed a reputation for a personalized approach to head searches. The consultants with whom we will work directly are Jim Scott and Tom Olverson. Combined, Olverson and Scott have served as heads of four different schools for a total of sixty-one years. They have served on numerous accreditation committees, regional and national independent school association boards, and independent school boards of trustees. Their knowledge of independent schools is extensive, and they come to USN highly recommended. 
 
The director search process begins with the most important step of connecting with you, the USN community. In the days to come, our consultants will send out a survey to USN constituents to seek your perspectives on the school. In addition, they will conduct interviews with faculty, administrators, trustees, parents, alumni, and students, the results of which will provide valuable information used to write a position statement. This statement will be shared with the independent school community globally and is the initial step in the recruitment stage of the search. 
 
Thank you to all who have expressed a desire to be a part of this process. I assure you that we will take you up on it and will continue to share news of this process on an ongoing basis. On behalf of the board, I encourage everyone to engage in this significant time in PDS/USN history.

Fall Book Frenzy takes place Thursday, September 25 through Saturday, September 27 in Cheek Gym. This annual used book sale benefits the Hassenfeld Library.
