Several members of the USN Health Team are among the front-line workers who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Health Team Director Margee Brennan, M.D., and Health Team staff Jenn Aaron, N.P., Amy Harkness, R.N., and Josephine Van Devender, R.N. were inoculated Tuesday, December 29 at the Metro Nashville Public Health Department. Kristin Rager, M.D., received her vaccine through HCA Healthcare the previous week.

As part of USN's Commitment to Community Health, which families signed in July, the school encourages families to pursue immunization.

The Tennessee Department of Health's COVID-19 Vaccination Program is a phased approach to administering the FDA-approved Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and began in mid-December. It prioritizes health care infrastructure, the most vulnerable Tennesseans, and essential workers. Phase 1b includes faculty, staff, and bus drivers of K-12 schools, “as schools have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 outbreaks, learning has been lost, and parents rely on consistent school schedules in order to remain in the workforce,” according to the vaccination plan.

"As plans take shape to offer that same chance for faculty and staff, we will be enthusiastic participants," Director Vince Durnan wrote the USN community on Wednesday, December 30.
