SAGE optimizes students' dining experience

Hot food options will return to the school lunch menu soon. Read on for details and to learn how to request meal adjustments.
By Kelly Allen-Mozzi, Food Service Director, SAGE Dining Services

As we return from Winter Break, I want to share some important information that will help you with meal selection for the rest of the school year and make the dining experience more enjoyable for students.

Soon you'll see some hot food options on the menu. Keep an eye out for favorites such as chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and baked pasta.

You may have noticed that the options on our menu don't appear in numerical order. That's because the combo numbers for the different SAGE stations are set on a company-wide level, and we follow that system.

When you place an order through MyKidsSpending, we'll send you a confirmation email. If you don't get an email, your order didn't go through, so please try again. If you need a last-minute lunch for your student, our default is a sunflower seed butter and jelly sandwich. We do not serve peanut butter because of the safety risk it poses for those with severe peanut allergies. We'll offer extra options if we have them, but that sandwich will always be available.

You can add notes with simple requests for meal adjustments such as changing out the bread, which we're happy to accommodate if possible. We want to make sure all students get the options they want, so please make sure to submit your selections and keep us updated about any changes.

If your student will be absent for lunch, please email Food Service Director Kelly Allen-Mozzi as soon as possible. If notified by 7:30 a.m. the day of service, we can take your child's meal out of production.

Lastly, if your student brings lunch from home, please include any cutlery needed for the meal. In previous years we had washable utensils available but this school year can offer disposable ones only. As a result, we're trying to limit their use to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

I hope this clears up the process going forward. Please continue to reach out with any questions.
We’re thrilled to be able to provide delicious meals for everyone at USN.
