Donate canned goods for Spring Break food drive

USN students will send food bags home during Spring Break with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools students living in the Edgehill community. Please consider giving pantry items with pop-tops or peel-back tops that can be easily opened by a child. Reusable grocery bags also are needed.
The High School Community Service Club is holding its annual Spring Break Food Drive from Wednesday, February 26 through Friday, March 6. Every year, each Middle and High School advisory puts together a bag of food, which the club distributes to students who live in the Edgehill community. There is an increased need for meals during holidays and school breaks because some students are regularly provided breakfast and lunch at school.

Below are the items needed for advisories to put together a complete bag. Please consider bringing an item below or cash for the club to purchase fresh fruit and bread that will be added to the bags the day before they are delivered. No glass, please. Each bag will feed one child for one week and contains kid-friendly food that requires little preparation and kitchen tools.
  • one package breakfast/nutrition bars
  • one box of cereal
  • four bowls/packages of Kraft Easy Mac Original Macaroni and Cheese
  • one 4-pack of fruit cups (pop-top or peel back, please)
  • one package of fruit snacks
  • peanut butter or cheese crackers
  • two cans of Ravioli/SpaghettiOs (pop-top, please) or two cans of kid-friendly soup (pop-top, please)
  • one jar of peanut butter
  • one jar of grape jelly
  • two bags/cans of tuna
  • one reusable cloth bag (a bigger bag such as those from Kroger, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe’s)
