Thanks to the help and support from students, parents, faculty, and staff across all three divisions, International Fair held Friday, March 29 was a success. Together, we are able to donate over $3,000 to Raise the Roof Academy, an organization based in Nashville that provides education and opportunities for children from rural communities in Uganda. The money raised from the fair will go towards sponsoring eight children’s education and living expenses, including medical care, meals, extracurricular activities, and learning materials.
Raise the Roof Academy’s U.S. Programs Coordinator Rachel Warhurst represented Uganda at the fair and held an information booth for the nonprofit.
She said, “At Raise the Roof Academy we have a 100% giving policy, so whatever project you choose to give toward, 100% of the funds that are raised will go towards that project. Our Child Sponsorship Program seeks out the most vulnerable children, many of whom are orphaned and have been affected by malaria, HIV/AIDS, and extreme poverty.”
The International Fair would not have been possible without the generosity of the USN community, in particular to those who hosted booths, performed, or led activities. On behalf of the high school’s International Club, we would also like to thank the Operations staff, Erik Mash, and Marty Beaty, who worked tirelessly to set and clean up the gym and cafeteria for the event. Finally, we would like to thank division heads Amy Woodson, Jeff Greenfield, Quinton Walker, Dean of Student Life Justin Karpinos, our faculty advisor Pat Miletich, and the administration for their support this year.
Feel free to sponsor a child, donate, or read more about Raise the Roof Academy at its website https://www.raisetheroofacademy.org/. We hope to see you again next year.
