Fall Book Frenzy opens today, WWII panel at 5:30 tonight

by Anna Cramer and Joanna Hall, parents and Fall Book Frenzy coordinators

Fall Book Frenzy is open today, Sept. 29 from noon until 5:30 p.m. Then, we’ll open Friday, Sept. 30 from noon to 9 p.m.
You can shop day or night and even during Fall Fest. So, don’t forget to stop by the Cheek Gym and see what you can find.

Please come to the special USN Reads event at 5:30 tonight. We will gather as a community in the Gordon Multipurpose Room to hear the stories of people who lived through World War II. Jerry Neal, a 95-year-old World War II bomber pilot who flew during the D-Day invasion, was recently featured as a storyteller at the Moth Mainstage at Oz Nashville. Joining him will be Norman Weber, an American boy who was visiting family in Germany when the war began and prevented him from returning home. Please join us as we hear from these living historians and reflect upon USN Reads books "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr and "The War That Saved My Life" by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley.

Visit our second annual Silent Auction at the Fall Book Frenzy. You can bid on collections of books and vinyl records curated by Jack White, Ann Patchett, Gabe Dixon, Vince Durnan, the high school English teachers, Mayor Megan Barry, Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens, and Ray and Lisa Waddle. You can also own a piece of USN history. Salvaged bricks from the original USN Auditorium wall have been crafted into stunning bookends.  The Silent Auction ends at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.

All proceeds from the Fall Book Frenzy benefit the USN Hassenfeld Library. Thank you to the USN community for all you have done to grow our love of books. If you have any questions, contact Anna Cramer or Joanna Hall.
