HS Girls' Soccer Returns to State Final Four

The girls' soccer team has earned its way back to the State Final Four.
After a one-year hiatus since their last visit to the State Tournament, the Tigers were not to be denied a return in 2014.

USN will play top-seeded University School of Jackson in the semifinals in Murfreesboro on Friday afternoon at 4pm. The game will be played at Siegel Soccer Complex. Tickets are $10 at the gate, and there will be a fan bus headed to Murfreesboro at 3:15 for all students and faculty.

Here's what happened in the last game:

Kara-Jade Gordon proved to be the difference maker in this game, as she scored all three of the USN goals to help them defeat the Turkeys of St. Mary's School, Memphis. The Tigers started the scoring halfway through the first half after a spectacular save by senior goalkeeper Katie Roth. Kara-Jade Gordon collected the ball on the offensive half and beat two defenders before putting the ball in the back of the net to give USN an early 1-0 lead. Just five minutes later, Karishma Patel played a ball through that Gordon put away for her second goal and gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Tigers pressed the goal early in the second half, and it paid off at the 25 minute mark, when Gordon was the beneficiary of a beautiful individual effort by Courtney Rabb to beat two defenders and play the ball across to Gordon. The third goal of the day helped seal the win for USN and signed their ticket to the State Final Four.
