18 seniors receive National Merit recognition

Four University School of Nashville seniors are among the Semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Patrick Chickey, Alice May, Conor Rork, and Barbara Xiong were selected from the pool of students who took the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. As Semifinalists, they represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and are among the highest scoring entrants in Tennessee.
These academically talented students have an opportunity to submit detailed applications with their academic record and community activities along with an essay and recommendation letter to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships awarded in the spring.
Commended seniors are Jackson Arnold, Zachary Babat, Zachary Bressman, Gavin Clark, Kate Deegan, Louisa Friedman, Sam Hotchkiss, Puja Jagasia, Corry Ke, Dhruv Khetarpal, Sam Kingsbury, Henry Rieniets, Camilla Townson, and Trudy Zou.
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. is a nonprofit organization providing scholarships underwritten by funds from the nonprofit, businesses, and higher education institutions that share its goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

HS athletics recaps for September 11-17
Tiger golfers have officially qualified for the region tournament, and our other teams are not far behind. Volleyball sits near the top of the district, finishing up regular season play next week with Senior Night. Girls soccer continues to hold first place in the district after another 9-0 win, and our cross country runners are chasing after some school records. To round it all out, our mountain bike team traveled to Oakfield to continue to improve on their times for the season. There’s plenty more where that came from- so be sure to come out to the River Campus, Sperling Gym, or out on the road to cheer on our Tigers before their seasons end.Read More -

Middle School volleyball and tennis teams are nearing the final games of their seasons, with the competition heating up while the Tigers play to determine their HVAC rankings.
