Cross Country Trophy Collection Grows

With the perfect weather we've been hoping for all season, the Tiger harriers ('rooners) took full advantage in today's Metro championships, with the Varsity Boys finishing 2nd and the Varsity Girls taking 3rd.

By my count, 26 runners earned either seasonal or lifetime PRs today, a testament to hard work throughout the season, as even though the weather was excellent, the always difficult Steeplechase was made more so by soggy and muddy conditions. The boys were led by Nick Sieders in 2nd, and Pelham Bergesen and Timmy Hays finished 6th and 7th. The girls were led by Mia Owen's 11th place, and Latham Hall also finished in the top 20.

Notable JV performances were too numerous to list, but Nell Cox's nearly 2-min PR, Manny Guevara and Douglas Graham sprinted to the finish together, and the entire team cheered on Emanoeel Ghabrial as he out kicked a rival.

The teams compete next Thursday in the Region championships with the goal of advancing to the State meet.
