More Trophies! HS XC Report from Dickson Invitational

Coach Flatau
Under sweltering conditions, the Tiger Harriers (sophomore Lucas Heckers has proposed the nickname "'rooners" (for Marooners, despite my pleas that our color is garnet)) comported themselves well at the Dickson Invitational.

You know a course is difficult when the Race Director sarcastically says, "enjoy the flat course" right before starting the race. That and the heat made for tough going, but the runners did a wonderful job managing the conditions. The boys raced first, with the terrific trio of Nick Sieders, Pelham Bergesen, and Timmy Hays once again leading the way. Clayton Jelsma and Wilson Berry weren't far behind, rounding out the top 5. There were over 30 boys in the race, so the garnet army was represented well all over the race. The boys ended up 2nd, not far behind MLK. That makes the boys 53-2 so far on the season (55 opponents, only 2 have beaten us).

The girls raced up at the front from the gun, with their own trio (Mia Owen, Latham Hall, and Abby Schoenecker) joined by first-time-this-season Shriya Karam. Shriya helped the team immensely to a first place performance! Many of the new runners got a sense of how tough a course can be and how accomplished a runner feels upon finishing. They are now 31-4 on the season!

The teams will get back to work for a few weeks before racing again in Clarksville on the 29th, your last vaguely local chance to see them until after Fall Break
