Annual Playground Work Day canceled

by Beckie Stokes, director of AFTER-SCHOOL & MSAS

Playground Work Day is canceled. Mother Nature has rain plans again. We will look further down the calendar and be in touch with a date in the fall. Thank you so much for your patience.
Our beloved playground was designed by students and constructed by parents, teachers, and staff in five long days in April 1991. This year, from 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, we will all pitch in to keep it safe and in good repair. Our main objectives this year are cleaning gravel off the decking, raking leaves, doing some splinter removal and sanding, and finally sealing it.

Flathead screwdrivers and extra brooms and rakes are helpful, but if you don’t have one or you forget, just bring yourself. There is always a little repair work to be done, so if you love power tools, have power tools, or just like to fix things, please contact Mark Meadors at 615-948-6112.

Please feel free to come whenever is convenient for you, whether you have just one hour or all day free. Any time you have will make a huge difference. School-age children are welcome to help.

If it’s drizzling, we can do some work; if it pours, not so much. We share weather updates at usn.org.
