USNA Volunteer Spotlight: Karen Griffin

by Amy Shepard, USNA volunteer coordinator

This month USNA recognizes Karen Griffin, parent of Kursten '22, who spends time helping in the Hassenfeld Library.
What is your event? I volunteer in the Hassenfeld Library year around.

Why did you decide to volunteer? My mother was a librarian so I feel like I grew up in the library and consider it a comfortable place. I enjoy getting lost amongst the books and find pleasure in helping with shelving books.

What was your favorite moment? I like restoring order from carts by taking displaced books and returning them to their appropriate spots on bookshelves so they can joyfully be selected again. Helping a little one find a much sought after book is always a library highlight.
