International Fair on March 10

by Trudy Zou '17

Plan to attend and participate in the fair from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10 in the Sperling Gym and Cafeteria.
The International Fair, hosted annually by the USN International Club to recognize diversity within our community and celebrate it around the globe, is right around the corner.

Our 2017 theme will be “Travel the World with Us,” in recognition of this year’s United Nations Sustainable Tourism for Development resolution. The fair will be held in the Sperling Gym and Cafeteria from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10. It will feature food, drink, art, dance, activities, and culture from around the world including Indian dancing, face painting, Chinese Dragon dancing, Turkish singing, local cuisine samples, and more.

We are continuing the annual Traditional Garb Contest; contestants of any age who register beforehand may compete for prizes in the following categories: Most Authentic, Funniest, Most Creative Interpretation, and Best Group. We are also introducing a Passport Scavenger hunt for special prizes this year, and all are encouraged to participate.

We’d love to get as much of the USN community involved as possible, so please email Trudy Zou '17 if you are interested in:
  • Hosting a booth for a country (you do not need to be from that country)
  • Performing or providing entertainment such as singing, dancing, demonstrations
  • Leading an activity booth such as henna or origami
  • Participating in the Traditional Garb Contest
Tickets will be $7 at the door, and the proceeds will go to an international relief organization of the club’s choosing. In the past several years, we have donated to Liberty in North Korea, Heifer International, an organization that works to alleviate hunger and poverty around the world, and the International Red Cross for disaster relief.
