Tigers win in season opener at Louisville Collegiate
Julia Spessard '23 leads the way with four goals.
The Tigers traveled to Louisville, KY for the first time as a team to face Louisville Collegiate. The wind was whipping across the turf on a cool night but the Tigers were ready to play. USN controlled the game throughout and had a solid lead from start to finish. Final score was 10-4.
Our midfielders, Eva Wuerth '23, Margaret McKay '25, and Julia Spessard '23 were strong on the draw, winning 8 draw controls on the game. Our defense was solid, led by our goalie Kate Vaughn '24 who had a solid 9 saves with only 4 goals allowed. Freshman Cate Laird did not look new to the game as she came up for us time and time again on defense. Annie Cox '24 was strong on attack but did more than score goals. She led us in ground balls with 6 and these mostly came from a strong ride from the attack and middies.
